What Are You Worth?
We are always comparing things by assigning value to them. There are price guides and appraisers for just about everything from automobiles to antique thimbles. The value of something is usually determined by what someone would be willing to give for it.However, when considering what a person is worth the world typically determines that by the value of things that they own (financial statement).Although wanting to feel valuable, some people get overwhelmed with the challenges, worries, failures and fears of this world to the point that they feel devalued and useless in the big picture of life. They begin to devalue themselves, their bodies and their hope for a meaningful existence.
However, principles of appraisal disqualify you from determining your own value. Even people should be valued according to what someone would give for them rather than by what they own or how they feel. John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” and then Jesus did that very thing for you. There is nothing more precious to God the Father than his one and only Son, yet he loved us (made in His image) so that He gave His only Son to die in our place.God was willing to give what was most dear to Him for you.Don’t underestimate what God thinks of you no matter how you feel or what you don’t understand for the moment!
Consider and pray:
Why would God consider you so valuable?
You are made in His image.
You are scarred and battered by sin and cares of the world, but only He can restore you to His original design.
No one else can restore you therefore you are of more value to God than to any other person or being.
When it’s easy to get lost in a crowded world your creator picks you out, knows the number of the hairs of your head, loves you dearly and has a wonderful plan for your life. Luke 12:6-7
