A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Whit began his ministry as Senior Pastor at Covenant Baptist Church on August 20, 2018. Whit spent 12 years serving as Senior Pastor of Frederica Baptist Church on St. Simons Island, Georgia, before beginning his ministry at Covenant. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Whit received his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Whit is an avid fan of "The Andy Griffith Show" and the Tennessee Volunteers. He is passionate about his wife Wendy and their four children. However, Whit's greatest passion is the Lord Jesus Christ and sharing Him with others.

Bob is our Pastor for Discipleship. He has served churches in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and Tennessee. His ministry experience includes student, worship, education, administration, and senior adult work. He is a certified church consultant and a pastoral mentor to many ministers.

At Covenant Baptist, Bob’s contributions as a staff pastor include assisting the senior pastor and giving oversight to our Connection Groups and discipleship ministry. 

 

He and his wife Vicky have three grown children and six grandchildren. He joined us in November of 2020.

Shay is a native of south Alabama but has lived in Nashville since 1999. He holds a degree in Music Education from Troy University and has been on staff with Covenant since 2012.

 

While in Nashville, Shay has worked as a songwriter and producer. He has recorded, written, and/or shared playbill with many artists including Dove Award-winning Sidewalk Prophets; Grammy nominees Sonic Flood and
DC Talk/Newsboys' Michael Tait; and Curb recording artists Selah, Charlie Daniels, Tanya Tucker, and many others. His songs have achieved chart success and have been used by television networks such as Nickelodeon, NBC, CMT, ESPN, Fox and TBN. He has used his music and abilities as a spokesman for Mission of Mercy as well as for Lust Free Living and is currently coauthoring a book on Christian unity.  

 

Shay and his wife Claire were married in 2000 and have a daughter, Piper, and a son, Noble.

Tammy joined our staff in June of 2019. She is a University of Tennessee graduate and served as an editor at LifeWay Christian Resources for more than 20 years and then as assistant to the executive director and ministry strategist at the Nashville Baptist Association for three years. Her passion is to serve, engage and encourage people as they seek to grow in their relationship with Christ and bring glory to Him by sharing His love and discipling others.

 

She has two daughters, Aden and Lindy, and is a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
