A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Whit began his ministry as Senior Pastor at Covenant Baptist Church on August 20, 2018. Whit spent twelve years serving as Senior Pastor of Frederica Baptist Church on St. Simons Island, GA, before beginning his ministry at Covenant. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Whit received his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Whit is an avid fan of 'The Andy Griffith Show' and the Tennessee Volunteers. He is passionate about his wife Wendy and their four children. However, Whit's greatest passion is the Lord Jesus Christ and sharing Him with others.
Church Administrator, Associate Minister for Worship & Pastoral Care
Greg Skipper has been in the ministry for 45 years. A graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Greg has served in both full and part time music positions in churches in Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee.
He and his late wife Gail have written over 30 musical works published by Lifeway Christian Resources where Greg served 30 years in music publishing.
Greg now serves as our Associate Minister for Worship and Pastoral Care and Church Administrator. His wife Gail went to be with the Lord in January of 2016 after 45 years of marriage. Greg has two daughters, Katie and Julie. Julie and her husband Kasey have three children, Alex, Ella, and Jax. They live in Smyrna and spend lots of time at grandad's house.
Shay is a native of south Alabama but has lived in Nashville since 1999. He holds a degree in Music Education from Troy University and has been on staff with Covenant since 2012.
While in Nashville he has worked as a songwriter and producer. He has recorded, written, and/or shared playbill with many artists including: Dove Award Winning Sidewalk Prophets, Grammy nominees - Sonic Flood, DC Talk/Newsboys' Michael Tait, Curb recording artists - Selah, Charlie Daniels, Tanya Tucker, and many others. His songs have achieved chart success and been used by television networks such as: Nickelodeon, NBC, CMT, ESPN, Fox and TBN. He has used his music and speaking abilities as a spokesman for Mission of Mercy as well as Lust Free Living and is currently co-authoring a book on Christian unity.
Shay and his wife Claire were married in 2000 and have a daughter, Piper, and a son, Noble.
Quinn was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and moved to Nashville in 1999. He began his career in Nashville working with youth at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle TN and the YMCA. In 2009 he became employed as a Metro Nashville Police Officer with the goal of becoming a School Resource Police Officer. He accomplished that goal in 2014 and is currently the School Resource Police Officer at East Nashville High School.
In 2015, while volunteering with the youth at Covenant Baptist, the Lord called Quinn to officially serve in the position of Youth Leader at Covenant Baptist. His wife, Ashley, a kindergarten teacher in Rutherford County, also faithfully serves alongside Quinn in the youth ministry. She is also active in many other ministries at Covenant. They currently reside in Nolensville with their dog, Mia.
Quinn's goal is to help the youth learn how to live the lives God has called them to live — and how to remain steadfast in a world where they are faced with so many difficult challenges.
Tammy Drolsum is our ministry assistant. She joined our staff in June of 2019.
Tammy, a University of Tennessee graduate, served as an editor at LifeWay Christian Resources for more than 20 years and then as assistant to the executive director and ministry strategist at the Nashville Baptist Association for three years.
She has two daughters, Aden and Lindy, and is a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
